For the green at heart living in an urban environment.

Vokashi is a simple, easy and odorless way to ensure your food scraps stay out of landfills and get to the place they're needed most - local farms and gardens.

Vokashi does all the dirty work by giving you the supplies you need and returning your food waste back to the earth. Easy. Clean. Sustainable.

We use the system called EM-Bokashi. Created by the Japanese horticulturist, Prof. Teuro Higa, the process "pickles" organic matter using anaerobic bacteria.

Fermentation occurs within an airtight container using bran inoculated with effective microorganisms (EM).

"Fermenting takes all the yuck out of recycling our food waste," says subscriber, Ryan Scott.

Once the material is matured it can be ploughed directly into the earth or added to above ground composting systems such as windrows or vermiculture bins.

Within weeks, the fermented matter decomposes to create highly nutrient rich soil or compost ready for planting flowers, fruits or vegetables.

Working with Weaving Hands who are recycling plastic bags to create our compost bag, our FFW compost will be on sale along with our EM-1 inoculated bran products.
