Reduce, Reuse & Recycle
Next time you order takeout, save the Planet!
I just had my dinner delivered through DeliverZero and I’m really pleased with the takeout containers that my delicious meal came in–they’re not single use and I’m not tossing them out! In fact, when the gal came to deliver my meal from my local restaurant, Istanbul Park, I handed her some containers from Myrtle Thai yesterday (a different restaurant). Of course, I had rinsed them out, and rest assured they sanitize them too, and these super durable containers can get reused up to 1000 times! Hello, great food and up to 999 less manufacturing processes! Delivery has gone from a somewhat guilty pleasure to a downright joy…
These clamshell containers are durable and seal well.
They even work well in the microwave!
I have 60 days to hand them back to a DeliverZero food deliverer. If I decide to keep some of the containers, I can and, I’ll be billed $3.60 each if I do. But frankly, I have 60 days to return them and that leaves plenty on hand to use–here and there–for my own leftovers and packed lunches while composting at our Vokashi Composting site (thanks to the Marine Park Golf Course!)
So, next time you order takeout, look up your address on DeliverZero’s site and see if you can become part of their takeout revolution!

Vokashi
For easy composting at home
The goal Vokashi set out to achieve is to decrease the amount of food that ends up in landfills. Most of us don't think about where our food is going when we throw it in the trash, but food waste makes up about 1/3 of the waste in landfills in the US. That's a lot! Vokashi aims to change that by following a Japanese method of fermenting food waste. Vokashi takes your food waste and uses it in a composting system. There are many benefits to composting, but one of the biggest ones is lowering your carbon footprint by decreasing the amount of food waste in landfills, which reduces methane emissions. If you want to learn more about the process or how to get involved with this company, visit Vokashi.com.
